I wasted $20 on this thing. Its problems are insurmountable. First, the solos sound like a beginners in a high school jazz band. Painful, embarassing. You know the feeling: you are listening to jazz wannabes who are pretentiously trying to imitate actual jazz performers.

I play this SACD quite often. However there are a few problems with it. The most prominent problem is that the Sax player plays sharp almost all the way through this release. One of the problems with SACD is that the listener can hear the music better. Another way to say the same thing is that with Red-book, since there is always some degree of information hiding due to the lack of resolution, the listener's mind fills in the blanks some and comes out with a better ... more |

This is a fine set of choral and brass music. There are a few intonation problems here and there but if you can overlook it, you will derive a great deal of musical comfort from this CD.
