Definitely better than the Redbook releases, the difference is noticeable! Finally we can listen to this album with good presence, depth, clarity and frequency extension. Probably the best Queen album, or one of the 2-3 best ones (and I'm not a Queen fan, but I can't avoid saying it's a very good album).

No one reviewed this one yet, so I will give my contribution.
As good as the SHM-SACD is, and as painstakingly as the DSD conversion was done, the original recording can't exactly be described as hi-fi, not by a long shot.

There is some evident tape hiss (it was a deliberate choice: no digital noise reduction, no tinkering with the original materials), but clarity, dynamics, soundstage and depth of the final result is breathtaking. It really doesn't sound like it was ... more |
