Performance:   Sonics:
I couldn't help myself, I had to compare the Audite and Tahra SACD versions of this historic performance. If you have one or the other, don't worry about replacing it, in terms of quality they're pretty much at the same level, which is superb. The Tahra seems to be mastered at a very slightly higher level, and appears to have a slightly fuller bass, while the Audite has a bit more air in the upper frequencies. However, that extra high frequency emphasis somehow imparts a more dated quality to the upper strings, at least to me. I don't hear much difference, if any, in detail between the two versions. I prefer the Tahra, but I can easily see how someone else could, equally validly, come to the opposite conclusion. Either way, we are lucky to have any transfer of this quality, let alone two.
