this one is near perfect, a great soundstage and master Akagi playing compositions from Hancock to Corea with beauty.

Performance:   Sonics:
This is my second Kei Akagi recording and I am liking this more than the other one ('A Hint Of You'). Mr. Akagi and his bandmates (Tomokazu Sugimoto on bass and Tamaya Honda on drums) play the following 9 wonderful and original piano tunes;

1) Dolphin Dance, by Herbie Hancock
2) Peresina by McCoy Tyner
3) Ad Lib On Nippon, by Duke Ellington
4) Isfahan, by Duke Ellington
5) Well, You Needn't, by Thelonius Monk
6) Ivory Silhouette, by Kei Akagi
7) Turn Out The Stars, by Bill Evans
8) Litha, by Chick Corea
9) Pace, by Horace Silver

Obviously Mr. Akagi is a great pianist and ironically perhaps this comes out better here than on the other disc which features more of his own compositions (sorry Akagi-san :-). The recording here is of a very high standard. There is more timbre and punch than on 'A Hint Of You' where I noted some coolness in the piano sound. I believe that he is playing the same piano on both discs (I do not *know* this) because even though this recording sounds a tad warmer I think I recognize the same sonic signature. I could not find which piano was played here - I'm curious.
