Performance:   Sonics:
I raised the issue highlighted in AmirKessner's review above in a separate thread some time ago, and can confirm that at the upper end of my normal volume settings i actually couldn't tell whether or not the performance of the firebird had started.

i needed a massive boost from normal settings to get it to register, which of course meant loud sections were potentially ear-splitting.

as far as i can tell the performance is a good one. there IS (most unusually) mention of the MC mix in the gramophone review, but the reviewer seems to be using only 4 speakers instead of the normal 5 (or 5.1).

they have issued an SACD that is not OK. All layers seem to have a 100Hz low pass filter applied!!!

I'm expecting to get a new version of this SACD but take care not to buy these records before they have been replaced with fully functional ones w/o the filter. Is there no quality control ... ????
