Johnny Cash is an American Legend, and defies categorization, even if you might find him listed as a country star. He was one of the original Sun Records stars (along with Elvis, Carl Perkins, and Jerry Lee Lewis - hard to believe that the sole survivor is Jerry Lee Lewis, AKA "The Killer") and had a long career. His biggest stardom was probably in the 60's, with a TV show and several hit albums. "Silver" came later, to celebrate his 25th year of recording. This is a great record-I had never heard it before buying it, and frankly did so because a: it was available on SACD and b: Cash had just died. I was glad I did. Johnny Cash can put a song across like no one else. IMO, the sound is excellent. The duets with George Jones are an added bonus. Single layer, multichannel.
