Discussion: Mendelssohn: Symphony No. 2 "Lobgesang" - de Vriend

Anyone care to comment on this recording? I would like to purchase the best-available multichannel performance of this work, preferably a period-style one (I am immensely enjoying the Musikkollegium Winterthurof cycle remainder on the MDG label - Mendelssohn: Symphonies Nos. 3 & 4 - Holliger and Mendelssohn: Symphonies 1 & 5 - Zehetmair). The other period options on SACD seem to be Mendelssohn: Lobgesang - Bernius (with perhaps less than top-notch sound per John's review) and Mendelssohn: Lobgesang - Orozco-Estrada (chamber orchestra but not a true period performance).

You didn't mention Litton's Bergen survey which granted is not on period instruments but is nevertheless very agreeable although not in the highest of Fi's. Preiser of course have Ian Bostridge.
