Yep, BDV offers so much more bang for buck - great choice of TV boxset btw; arguably the greatest TV series ever made...ever!

Ironically, Derek, an hour later after I ordered THE WIRE, the price increased by $20. BTW, Black Friday is approaching and Amazon will be blowing out a lot of items at "bargain basement" prices but of course it doesn't include esoteric items like SACDs and BD~As.

I have been getting a ton of music lately and all over the place.

Some standouts that we haven't talked about here are the brand new
Queensryche, Ghost, Europe (Maybe the best of the lot), Def Leppard. These 4 are great new 2015 hard rock CD's.

On the way new Billy Gibbons and ELO.

A little older 2015 disc is Brian Wilson's Pier Pressure, man that guy can write a tune.

For fun I got Lynyrd Skynyrd's Live BD~V playing there first two albums in order In surround, HDMA or whatever it's called. It's good but no more than what you would expect, especially with only one surviving original member, Gary Rossington.

The Wall is on the way, maybe they will show some scenes from AT&T Park in San Francisco, I was there.

Got some new Christmas discs also, It's A Holiday Soul Party, Rockin' Rudolph Brian Setzer, Blues Christmas, Southern Rock Christmas ,and one SACD, The Christmas Song, Nat King Cole.

Plus a whole lot of others, I can't keep up.

Yeah, Markie, you buy ALL this Christmas music and yet you refuse to buy two of THE BEST DVD~A MLP 5.1 ULTRA DISCRETE Christmas Albums (still cheap @ Amazon): Mannheim Steamroller: Celebration and Christmas Extraordinaire......$10.99 each (brand new) + 2 day PRIME shipping. They even come with RBCDs. Jeez!

You are as stubborn as a mule.......and NOT the Gov't Mule variety!

HAPPY Listening. OVER 80K hits on the Rock Thread. Keep on Truckin'.........

And Brett's back home in Indiana....raking leaves.......Bless his pointed little head (to borrow a phrase (paraphrased) from the Jefferson Airplane). http://www.connollyco.com/discography/jefferson_airplane/bless_hi.jpg

Yep, we got the raking all done. Hee Haw! But I've mostly been spending time with the folks. I got to see some of the recent LP crazy firsthand. One of my nephews and one of my nieces each have a turntable. He's in high school and just getting started with the wonderful world of HiFi. There are some old albums lying around the house here. Some quite old. And he was pretty excited when I talked to him about Quad and 5.1. It's nice to see someone so young show interest. My niece, on the other hand, was cracking me up. She pulled out this halfway decent turntable from under an armchair in her room. Then, with a curious look on her face, she said..."It's so strange that it doesn't come with a speaker. I wonder why they did that." She did have some nice oldies at least. ;-)

Mark must be bringing down the house with all that heavy metal. I agree there are still a lot of bands making good metal today.

And thanks for the tip on those Xmas DVD-As, Ralph. Now that fright night is over... 'Tis the season to be jolly. Ho Ho Ho...

Brett, so happy you're having a marvelous time with the family.

Don't forget to add the MLP DVD~A 5.1 of "Checkfield Surrounded" to your Xmas list, as well. YOU will LOVE it.

BTW, with the money you earned raking leaves, you can buy your nephew a 5.1 set up (HEE, HAW)! And don't forget to introduce him to the classics.

WHO'S your favorite UNCLE?

DISAPPOINTMENT! I went to buy the Beatles 1+ box with 2 BR discs this morning. My plan was to write a track by track review of the surround sound, finished by the time you Americans wake up (I'm at least six hours ahead of you and will always be).
But the record store--yes, there still is one 20 kilometres away--didn't have it. Only 75 copies of that particular edition had been shipped to Sweden and the five copies that the store had received were already sold.
So sorry, it will have to wait until next week at least. By then hopefully someone else can give me a taster. Not on the songs, I know them, but on the SQ.
Please start a new topic on the subject when you have more to say than 'awesome' or something similar.

Edit: at least I got the new Dylan. My interest in him is on the healthy side so I'm content with the two disc edition.

Mark,

Thanks - I noticed that earlier today, and was mildly tempted. Trouble is, my last CD Japan order, I got hit by an import charge that made my 1 x John Lennon SACD quite expensive. I had a load of loyalty points to use, and the disc would have been an otherwise reasonable price. A pity really, and such a surprise, as I've gone ages ordering from CD Japan without being hit like that.

Mark.....we ALL like cheap and the best news today is the FREE shipping from CDJapan (in MY memory....a FIRST) for orders over 10,000 yen.

Like yourself, I spent thousands a year on music/BD~A/V and HATE paying shipping charges and especially sales tax (we New Yorkers are taxed to death).

So Glad that you and Hee Haw have ordered those Mannheim Steamroller Christmas DVD~As. Now, all you need is a little snow in Silicon Valley at Christmas to create the perfect holiday atmosphere.

Ho, Ho, Hee HAW!
