...and when has ever a topic remained on topic? ....

Robert ok I agree but was getting worried about being banned as a result of talking about downloads which I thought was not allowed. I will to be more serious see if can find anything out about the Onyx download issue and email you privately (may take a few days or more).

Off topic.
NOPE VERY MUCH ON TOPIC!

Good luck covering only gradually dying formats!
And alienating music lovers in general!
The Gods here are truly CRAZY!

Oh yes, they do, but outside of the shrink-wrapping, so it doesn't "destroy" the cover art, once opened. The the spine clearly sys "SACD" for storing.

Robert

Were customers complaining about the logo being unsightly on the front cover?

This isn't the place to ask about eClassical files. eClassical is.

Geez - It's your site, it's your rules - but I've got options too. . .

And I'm outta here!

Yet another valued contributor forced out by the fiefdom lord and his royal majesty. Chris, sad to see you go.

I have received a mail from the site owner that he has deleted one of my posts for having the temerity to refer to the fact that a favourite site of mine actually does NOT have a recording in high-res. I don't take kindly to being censored.

Please do write to me at robert@bis.se with further questions about that site.
As for this site, I don't know if I am going to remain. I will try to set up a Forum on sites that I control. There the word will be free.

Look at it from a positive angle Robert,Zeus is giving you one more reason to stop making not economically viable SACDs any longer! Put as much energy and investment as necessary into making mch downloads happen asap. A win win for both the environment, you and many music lovers who are not retrograde format fanatics, but adaptable and welcoming both the past, the present and the future of music distribution.
With Zeus's attitude this Site will become a thing of the past or a miniscule asylum for fantatics only,in a few years and the world of music will go on.
PS Bruch's 2nd violin concerto from BIS is wonderful!
Cheers Chris

Yes, it's time to ramble on.

Retrograde-format fanatic that I am (I still buy books, can you believe it?), I do hope, though, that BIS will continue to put out SACDs. One of the (many) things BIS does well is constructing programmes, both within the confines of individual discs and across series. Like a concert, a record is a discrete and meaningful aesthetic unit, and one worth preserving. Yes, theoretically an album can exist "virtually", but the practical upshot of the download culture is atomized and decontextualized listening. My brother-in-law likes the song "Sunday Morning" but when I start talking about the Velvet Underground & Nico I get a blank look . . .

Anyway, adieu, adieu, to yieu and yieu and yieu!
