The sound quality of this disc is very clear and you can hear every detail of every voice. But, how disappointing it is to hear in such clear detail such poor singing! The sopranos sound sour and either shake with vibrato or make it obvious that they are trying not to have vibrato. One soprano in particular sounds sour and her tone sags all the time (I am not sure how to describe the peculiar effect). To complete the disappointment, the whole performance sounds like Handel (18th century) instead of Monteverdi (early 17th century) and lacks both subtlety and balance. Still the sound quality, as I said at the start, is really excellent.
