Telarc appear to be stopping SACD's

Telarc and Fantasy Jazz have their discs for bargain prices via Newbury Comics in Boston, Norwood etc. I bought over 30 last week at these low prices.

I also visited F.Y.E in Boston and found a few bargains, after a lot of searching, but they have very few titles left.

The Norwood store has more SACD's remaining as of 20th September 2010.

Newbury are also listed as an Amazon marketplace seller for US customers.

Well, Newbury does appear to be blowing out it's Telarc SACDs!?

I picked up 2 @ $4.99 (Manhattan Transfer & an Audiophile Sampler) and 1 @ $2.99 (Tutti!)!

None of Newbury's other SACDs are this cheap!?

They've been selling Telarc SACDs on the cheap for a long time now - when I was last in Boston in July I stopped in two of their stores (Harvard Sq. and Newbury St.) and picked up 8 Telarc SACDs for $3.99-$5.99.

The Newbury St. one was on a first date. Miracle she still returns my calls :p.

I purchased more than a dozen for $9.99 and under, several of those for $1.99 and $2.99. Some were well worth it: Mahler No. 6/Zander (3 disc set, good performance with two versions of final movement and also a lecture disc all for $2.99); Fennell conducting Holst, Handel, and marches; the Strauss/Wagner with Brewer/Runnicles (somewhat disagree with Polly Nomial's review; it's still a nice recording, despite the annoying reverb on her voice); and the Vivaldi/Bach from Pearlman. Of the non-Telarc discs going cheap at Newbury, Chesky's Area 31 and -- above all -- the glorious Beethoven Symphonies Nos. 2 & 5 from Masur (on Pentatone) were stand-outs. Happy listening.

Somehow Newbury still has a lot of the Telarc SACDs on their shelves, going for $4-$6. Picked up a bunch.
