Hello Pentaman. Has anyone ever suggested to record the complete Mendelssohn's Lieder ohne Worte ? ... such an important work, and I believe it is badly missing in the SACD repertoire. Would you consider?

Telarc quite releasing SACDs two years ago and I have been looking for a new "go-to" label and so far PentaTone sonically is the closest to my sonic desires.

A poster in another thread said most Pentatone discs were "softened, veiled, fluffy and blurred". If "softened" means no unpleasant digital-sounding over-etched highs, "veiled" means smooth string tone, "fluffy" means warm sound with lots of ambiance and "blurred" means a nice sense of ensemble, then I agree I would just use different language. This is an excellent example of music lovers listening to different aspects of sound (live or recorded) and thus preferring different recording techniques.

I have not purchased a lot of PentaTone SACDs as the cover art was a bit of a turnoff, however their recordings are so fantastic, damn the cover art I am expanding my collection of PentaTone SACDs.

Yesterday I listened to PentaTone's two samplers Super Audio CD Sampler and Super Audio CD Sampler - RQR and every selection sounded excellent! I also love these as well Bartok, Kodaly, Ligeti - Foster and Rimsky-Korsakov: Orchestral Suites - Pletnev

And you wonder why most people here don't take you seriously.

krisjan physical formats are for viewing as well as listening. Never heard of pride of ownership? I love beautiful "cover art", you are degrading all artists by making such a snide statement!

No, he's just stating a fact.

flyingdutchman, krisjan took my quote out of context. I am now purchasing PentaTone SACDs in spite of their cover art because their sonics are so excellent!

No he is not stating a fact just his opinion.

Never judge a book by its cover. At least they're releasing in Super Jewel cases instead of flimsy digipaks and are keeping their pricing relatively low as compared to other reissue providers....and their multi~language booklets are always informative.

Just wish they would use the Grimm Audio Converter which would make sense since they're accessing the analogue masters for their Quad reissues.

Since I gather it's OK to suggest repertory to Pentatone-- given the success of Marc Albrecht's recording of the Korngold Symphony (I'm loving it, that's for sure), how about having him record some or all of the Roussel symphonies? I'll bet the music's rich textures will be a natural on SACD.

Great idea, and (we did this before) more Korngold would be welcome! Besides his serious works, it would be great to have his film scores.

Pentatone will not record anything with Albrecht this year and next year they will do Mahler.
Yes, some Roussel and why not the Honegger symphonies.
