Very good sound with bass blooming pleasantly even on stereo, reminds one of good old days ASMF/Decca's recordings.

I have to agree with you. The strongest would have been on the Schubert's tracks.

A keeper for me ;)

Well, we seem to be well into the BIS HD era so sound quality should be ratcheting up

I just listened to this and not being a big fan of arrangements, I am wondering whatever possessed me to acquire it. How much more welcome Bartok's viola concerto and Martinu's Rhapsody concerto would be.

Hi Bruce,

You mean like this one: Martinu: Viola music - Rysanov, Sitkovetsky, Apekisheva, Belohlávek. It's a stunner.

Although it is true that a new rendition of Bartok's viola concerto would certainly be welcome, I find this release to be excellent. The arrangements are very well done, the playing is superb and the recording outstanding. If you forget about the original works, the music is very enjoyable. I have listened to this album many times and find it refreshing.
