So here's Fischer's long awaited recording of the Rite. Oooh, to compare and contrast with BIS' version

It's still some way off is it not - in shops in March 2012 on the grapevine. Was this entry a 'flyer' in resonse to the Litton BIS disc?

Different music. The Litton contains the full Firebird, the Fischer just the Suite.

Jared told us of this release back in November 2010. Talk about loving care to his releases. Tells us something of how personally involved he is with them.

Stravinsky's own recording of Le Sacre is still the benchmark for me and the early Sony SACD remains impressive as sound. However, everything Ivan Fischer conducts is worth hearing so I'm definitely waiting for this release.

I wonder which version of the Firebird Suite is being offered? The 1919 version or the revised 1945 version? I can't remember if Jared mentioned that when he commented about the recording earlier. The Scherzo a la Russe and Tango are interesting works too.

My recollection is that it's the 1919.

I think zeus is confusing this with BIS-SACD-1874 with the Complete Firebird and some arrangements, to be released in January, with the same artists.

I'm not confused. The comparison I made was between the versions of the Firebird, nothing else.
