I've thought about getting this one a few times but only have the 'Dear Miss Lucy' track on the Chesky intro to SACD comp.

Anyone have this SACD and is the 'Lucy' cut typical of the rest of the disc?

Hi Khorn,

It's always difficult to recommend a certain album to someone if you don't know what music they like, but IMHO this is one you definitely have to get. The lyrics on this album sure make you laugh. Most of the songs are in a slower tempo, more ballad-like, lounge jazz would be my best description. Funniest track IMHO is "Lilly-110-140" about a woman who kills her cheating boyfriend and then her psychiatrist. It's done with some sort of mariachi-trumpets. "Won Gon Ju" is funny wordplay. There's one track ("Chicks") that's sung by the guy (David Cantor) in the band. At first I thought it ruined the mood of the album (I still think it would've been best if they'd put it last), but the dryness of his delivery makes it worthwhile after a couple of spins.

In short, expect a lot of ballad-type songs with a few surprises tossed in-between. Come to think of it my best description would be that it sounds a bit like music from the 1920-1930s. You can check out sound samples at cduniverse.com

Thanks for the reply Lawman, I enjoy the 'Miss Lucy' cut on the SACD sampler any really like the insrumentals, 'specially the tone of the sax. I think I'll add this one to my next ordering binge.
