it's long forgotten that Flor recorded the Dvorak 8th with RPO in 1989.

Long forgotten!

The one that we really, really want is the spicy 5th which just ain't made it to SACD yet. One of the world's lesser mysteries.

Only if people want it to be. It is a beautiful cover though.

This 8th can stand with the catalog's best. The outer movements are impressive for natural flow and unbridled energy. In fact, I have small reservations about inner movements. Speeding up and down of the tempo at fig. L in Adagio is unconvincing. And Szell(EMI) brought more warmth to the 3rd movement(and vigor to the molto vivace Coda) but no one does it like him.

I had the MPO 7th already, will definitely get this one too.

First class label, first class artist, first class sound, what more can one ask for? I hope BIS would record the 'New World' fast before this excellent orchestra degenerates into a 2nd rate ensemble due to the recent exodus of their principal players.

While I love the 6th, I'd much sooner pounce on a 4th or 5th on SACD.
