TOGE-15014 Symphony No. 9: Mahler Sir John Barbirolli

Is this the recording with the Berlin Philharmonic, because that was already released (TOGE 12011)?

A bunch of the releases are reissues.

I want to update my previous post. I want EMI ***"ROCK!!!"*** but only if released by EMI UK, like those classical UK SACDs released a few months ago. I abhor coming to SA-CD.net and seeing more, and more, and more, and more UNAFFORDABLE OVERPRICED Japanese SACDs. Why can't the major labels resume pressing SACDs in Europe again? I would be OK with separate European and Japanese SACDs like they did 10 years ago, but Japanese only SACDs at super high prices is a slap in the face and I am getting sick of it Major labels, get on the ball there are SACD listeners in ALL countries and most of them like music besides classical!!!!!!!

EMI has a lot of great Rock including the Beatles which were remastered at 24-bit 192kHz yet never released in high resolution.

GO EMI/UK -------------ROCK----------------

Teresa, it seems that EMI has heeded your call to rock but with DVD~V containing 5.1/or 4.0 DTS/DD and 96/24 pcm stereo reissues.....

Just ordered two Gentle Giant EMI cd/dvd combos {Free Hand and Interview} from Amazon UK and what is contained on it is what is described above..........

I agree concerning the way overpriced EMI Japanese reissues. If they do find their way onto UK/EMI lower priced SACDs, I will oblige.

Seems EMI is going the 'quasi' DVD~A route (only because of the 96/24 pcm stereo track) and the Steve Miller Band's Fly Like An Eagle also was released in the same configuration (also EMI).....as was Electric Light Orchestra's 'First Light' (4.1 QUAD.....EMI)

SACD has indeed become a classical format except for the rock/pop/jazz reissues from domestic companies MoFi and Acoustic Sounds.......

FACE THE MUSIC!

Addenda: Steve Wilson was in talks with the group TALK TALK (also EMI) about remastering their back catalogue onto 5.1/Stereo DVD~A. Certain members of the group declined saying they had NO interest in remixing their master tapes.

EMI Music Japan (formerly Toshiba/EMI) will release 45 Hybrid SACDs of classical recordings from September to November 2012.

...

IMPORTANT CORRECTION

These 45 titles and the 30 more titles from December 2012 to January 2013 should be Single Layer SACDs. I am sorry for the inaccurate information. Thank Acavus and thwblueboy for pointing out this.

Single layer non-SHM SACDs? Now that is weird. But anything is possible on the japanese reissue market.

Does anyone know why the number of duplicates from EMI of the SACDs released a number of months ago -- have they gone out of print - or are they remastered again/better? Strange waste of effort when there are others EMI could issue.

It's the LP fetish of japanese collectors.

The first release format of a recording is the holy grail, so all subsequent reissues on a different format must be released with the same cover (including typographical errors) and without any additional material.

I'm afraid its not just the Japanese, original cover art etc floats my boat too :0

Daniel.

Weren't they all like that in the beginning?

At least in Jpn, but also the US CBS/Sony releases.
