It didn't take him that long to compose it. Glad the waiting paid off Bruce

I wouldn't describe Prokofiev's Sixth as a tough nut to crack: it's really very melodic despite the dissonances. Is anyone able to compare this performance with Järvi's?

I pay no heed to Arnaldo's sonic rating of this SACD because he uses headphones only. He really should say that when reviewing. Both Arnaldo and Geohominid seem to agree that the performances are very good. Geo's high rating of the sonics (both stereo and multi-ch) means this goes on my want list. Geo's inclusion of star ratings for performance and sonics (which have been absent from his reviews for the last several months) is, uh, interesting. It should be evident why he included them here...

Geo rates everything 5 stars ... so I don't think this rating can convey any information.

If, however, he were to actually rate something as say 2 stars, or 3 stars ... well, I think that might convey some actual information. As far as I can tell, the present 5 star rating just means it is a SACD.

Clever jacket design.
The imaginary Lieutenant missing face and other parts,
with 3 oranges skewered on his sword.

In his defense, he does most of the site reviews for BIS; of the 50 or 60 BIS SACDs I own (plus an equal numbers of CDs), I would give almost all of them at least 4/5 stars on performance and sound. Robert and his team have always been excellent at paring the right artists with the right repertoire, and they have a winning methodology for making recordings (there are certainly other labels that have an equally consistent track record, such as Channel Classics).

Quickly looking over Geo's reviews, he did give a recent Mariinsky recording 3/5 on the sound -- that's consistent with how a lot of people feel about their SQ.

Same here, and that goes for anyone who reviews only the stereo program of a SACD. Stereo-only reviews can still be informative for other reasons though, as was Arnaldo's, so they're still worth reading.
