Performance:   Sonics:
This is one very nice sounding SACD. It's a little dry perhaps, but I like it. As the title suggests it's a live recording, recorded at the Long Beach , Birdland West club in 1988. If you like slow/laid back jazz ballads, great t/a sax work - Red Halloway is given ample room for solo's - and female vocalists in the great jazz tradition you'll like this I think. McRea has grit, blues and soul and she shows you where Jones, Krall et al are lacking - as good as these artists may be, it's all a little too smooth for my liking.
