La Folia de Spagna is one of my best sounding SACDs. It is not only a thrilling experience, best of all it's high quality music making with very realistic sonics.

The music is very realistic and fun! These are spanish Folia's written from 1500 - 1905. The 1905 piece is a Spanish Folia by Carl Nielsen played on ancient instruments with very realistic and super cool sound effects, like a HUGH land rover, an early 20's automobile driving around the block beeping it's very beautiful sounding horn. This car will map how wide and deep your soundstage is.

If you love early music, this is the absolute best early music disc of all time. Even if you don't think you like early music you will love this one, I have never meet a human being who didn't love this recording on first listen.

La Folia de Spagna was recorded 1982 in pure analog, give it a spin.

Happy listening,
Teresa

This recording ranks among the most natural sounding in my collection regardless of format: LP, CD and now SACD. The LP and CD were, in some ways, indistinguishable from each other — a great testimonial the excellent 16/44.1 digital transfer it was given almost 20 years ago. The new SACD differs very slightly from the previous two, mostly in very positive ways. The sound is a trifle more ambient at times, and always a bit more focused than either of its predecessors. In most cases I hear a clear distinction favoring the SACD over the previous two with regard to reverberant sounds, such as guitar strings or percussion instruments. There is one instance, however (track 4 at 1:20) in which the sharp transient attack is both fuller and more dynamic on the original CD than on either the LP or new SACD.

If you already own either one of the previous releases of this famous work, I think you might find sufficient differences in the sound to warrant spending the money on this item again. It is, after all, one of the truest tests of your audio system's ability to recreate natural acoustic sound.

Absolutely stellar performance with a nice mix between Medieval folk music and modern sounds. Never boring, always something new to hear in the next minute, the music keeps on flowing from here to there. Good recording, sounds fresh and dynamic with a capital D. I love it! Have not heard the original record yet, but for now I give it 5 stars.
