Agree with nucaleena - excellent performances. I think the sound is excellent as well, smooth strings and bass that you can almost touch. Turn the rears down a notch or two and you'll be back in the hall in April 2002!

Performance:   Sonics:
A really nice disc. I was new to these two pieces when I got the disc, but that's not true any more. I usually prefer the full orchestra sound, but these two pieces are written for string orchestra. They are both very well played by Maestro Boni's orchestra. And the sound is just to die for! I don't know of another disc that gives the sound of massed strings so well. However, there's not really a mass of strings here, just 20 plus 1 bass. That's just barely larger than the first violin section of most Mahler symphonies. Yet the sound seems like easily twice as many players as there are. Hats off to Erdo and the Pentatone team on this one.
