Performance:   Sonics:
Well I have agonized about a report on this.First sonically .Its top notch DSD....Played after Bruckners 5 I would probably frizby the Harencourt RCA..The problem to me is the so called main work..Cello concerto...hardly a tune you can get your teeth into for a while..five plays later Ive warmed to it....the work changes for the better probably with each of the 4 movements...Certainly interesting without being modern avante Gardish...however its not the work I will go back to on the disc ...The remaining items Elegy ..3 solo pieces and the Delighfull Heartwood are well worth having the disc for..Without doubt the soloist is the star and at times you will wonder whether he multi tracked the solo work with its unusually realistic sounds...I nearly ebayed this but stuck at it for a long while before realizing its full value...standard old fashioned case.. good liner notes which I dont read until I get into the music...Dont expect to plug it in and love it...Dave
