Performance:   Sonics:
This multi-channel SACD featuring two popular piano concertos offers satisfactory sound and decent performances, but there are better versions available (Kovacevich for Beethoven's No. 4, Gimse for the Grieg). The rapport between the soloist, Ikuyo Kamiya, and the Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Chosei Komatsu (and recorded in the Moscow Conservatoire) is excellent, especially in the Beethoven concerto, but the orchestral sound is somewhat recessed and lacking in focus. Even so the balance between piano and orchestra is quite satisfactory. Those looking for romantic interpretations emphasizing the lyrical side may consider buying this disc. After all, it is a DSD recording with smooth, silky strings and natural piano sound.

Performance:   Sonics:
NF Fine NF60501 MCh Beethoven 4th Piano Co and Greig Piano Co . Performers and recording engineers unnamed. Its hybrid and if I understood correctly, pure DSD. May be I should put disclaimer. I am former pianist and can't stand terribly recorded supposedly piano music. It upsets me greatly. I better say nothin' but before you spent your $40+ - you been warned!!!
Distant sound somewhat resembling that of piano. Orchestra is not bad (nor is it good). Performance - usually, Japanese pianists are showing excellent technical skills - here are not that many. Emotions, in these two very romantic concertos are not enough to cry and if I cried then because I spent so much money on this sooooo mediocre recording
