Gene Bertoncini and the Ambient recording label were new to me.I discovered them by thumbing through the different pages of sa-cd.net. As I love acoustic guitar albums I am always looking for good quality playing and recordings.

If you enjoy acoustic jazz guitar playing I recommend this sacd to you with my highest praise. Gene Bertoncini is truly a gifted player who uses melody and tonal colours to express his feelings. I really enjoy this sacd because Gene seems to wait for the emotions first and then it is reflected in his playing which is relaxed, introspective and very melodious and harmonic. It is simply a true pleasure to press play and experience such brilliant playing.

The recording is also shockingly good. Pure dsd was used in a relaxed yet controlled studio environment. Simple but beautiful come to mind when I want to explain the quality of the recording. Every tone, note and string vibration is captured. It is easy to hear the different notes played easily.....his breathing and energy. The sound grabs you from the first note and is very realistic and lifelike. I recommend increasing the colume a little to hear evewry nuance.

Another thing....this album gets better with evety listen.

Highly recommended for performance and sound.
