If you love DVORÁK this is a must have SACD as it includes superb performances of DVORÁK's In Natures Realm, Carnival Overture and Othello: Overture by Sawalllisch conducting the Philadelphia Orchestra. Plus a very good performance of Liszt's Les Préludes.

The sound is extremely realistic with lots of ambiance, deep bass and a nice delicacy in the high frequencies. The soundstage is solid with excellent imaging. The only fault is the slight dryness of the Academy of Music in Philadelphia where this was recorded, and I know several people who have attended concerts in this hall and it is exactly what it sounds like live.

This is an analog recording made with custom-built triode tube electronics. The microphones were arranged in the classic MS configuration. No noise reduction, equalization, compression, or limiting of any sort was used in the making of this recording.

Congratulations to producers Simon Woods and Kavi Alexander and Associate Producer Robert E. Green.

I would love to have more recordings made this simply and with this amount of TLC in truly great concert halls.

I highly recommend this SACD!

I bought this because several people raved about it. It cost me $30. I can't put my finger on it, but I can only listen to this as background music. It has an emotional, soothing sound, but I just can't get into it. I'm probably showing my musical shortcoming, and I have also only listened to it about 3 times over 18 months. I generally do not listen to classical music. Buy this only if you love classical music. My ratings reflect how I "feel" about this disc. A classical music lover would probably rate it much higher.
