Performance:   Sonics:
Yesterdays critical listening of this unique piece of work has proved and revealed this one simple thing: SA-CD is definitely more dedicated format for the classical music than DVD-A. This doubled release 1DVD-A + 2 SA-CD has been compared on on of the best equipment that you can afford in the central EU. AYRE mulitformat player on MARTIN LOGAN CLX powered by THETA DIGITAL amps. (only stereo)

The second movement (scherzo) contains full dynamics and wide variety of the classical instruments so only the chosen format of the transfer might be faulty with the DVD-A sound. DVD-A sounds terribly cold & crystal clean with overtly bright brass.

The percussive interludes are somewhat muddy a bit with SA-CD but all other instruments are precisely nice and punctual than with the DVD-A transfer.

SA-CD does not sound brings full flavor instead of Artic cold air and too much brigtness of the DVD-A. All the strings, woodwinds and esp. brass sound naturally and excelently cut! THIS MACAL's RENDITION IS SLOWLY BECOMING MY MOST FAV of all that I know and surely surpasses even Kubelik's referrence recording! I cannot imagine what MAHLER himself would say about CZECH PHIL with MACAL but I can say that he probably wouldn't be disappointed with this performance....
