Performance:   Sonics:
A considerable leap up from the harsh, blaring Blue Note SACD. This one is balanced with good depth and a much warmer, more natural sonic signature if, like most of the AP Blue Notes, rather laid back and low-level. All things considered, this is the definitive digital rendering of this great early Trane album, at least for now. Frankly, it's hard to imagine it sounding significantly better. Grab it while it's in print or you'll be searching and paying top-dollar for it later.

This is a classic jazz album from the 50's. This is also my third time purchasing this title in hirez.

The first sacd from the early days of sacd was a mess. Something was definitely wrong with the sound. But it had extra tracks which was great.

The 2nd disc I bought was the 24/192 dvd audio which sounded darn good. Sonically it was so much better than the 1st sacd released and from the original master tapes. But no extra tracks.

And now Analogue Productions has released their sacd version of Blue Train and it's wonderful.
The volume has to be turned up high until a focus occurs. The sound is wide, warm and very rich.
I prefer this to the hdad as it is even more natural in sound and is more inviting sonically.
And we get the two previously mentioned bonus tracks.
What's not to like??

Great classic jazz and a terrific dsd transfer.

Highly recommended.

Sonics:
I’ve been smitten with this album ever since my buddy played me his Analogue Productions release of the 180 gram, 45 rpm LP. I’m a digital guy and don’t have a record player, but I wanted that warm, “vinyl sound” that I fell in love with that first time I heard this classic.

I debated between the Classic Record's HDAD 24/96 release and the Analogue Productions SACD; and based on analogue’s, 2011 review, I went with the SACD.

I am happy to say that, even without hearing the HDAD, I am certain that I made the right choice with the AP SACD. Not only does it rival the warm and wide sound stage of its high-end vinyl cousin, it also has a clear crispness about it that is especially apparent in the percussion. Not a bit of brightness at all, just a clean and pure sound that you can listen to for hours.
