Chicago V, released in the early 70s, contains some very strong material and one great hit, "Saturday in the Park." This release is based on the former DVD-A and my system is stereo, so no MCH. The recording quality here is excellent. Overall a neutral spectrum, not bright, not dull. Really just right. Instrumentation and vocals are distinct.

I only knew Pete Cetera from his 80s top 40 days, and there was a little bit of pre-loathing as I had never listened to a Chicago album outside of a greatest hits compilation. Surprisingly, even Cetera sounds great to my ears on this CD. Highs have a slight digital crispness only noticeable really in the cymbal crashes. There are lots of things right about this recording and I recommend it.

I should note that listening beginning to end did result in some listener fatigue. Although this is well recorded and the sound is excellent, it seems like there's some "loudness control" in the mix, i.e. the dynamics seem compressed. A shame as that is the reason I have to ding the score just a bit.
