Performance:   Sonics:
This new remastering of this classic recording sounds fantastic. I was reluctant to buy it, based on the less than stellar reviews I've read on here concerning the Esoteric remastered versions of Mravinsky's Tchaikovsky Symphonies 4-6. I have to say that I'm happy I took the chance. The sound is full, spacious and has plenty of depth, presence and detail, despite its age (1960). It is absolutely FAR superior to the old redbook cd version and probably the Esoteric reissue as well, although I admit that I have not heard that version. I don't think anyone who is a fan of this performance will be disappointed.

I just ordered symphony #5, and if it's comparable in quality to this disc, it'll be another winner.
