I notice an ever widening gap between hardware and software support for the format. CE mfrs are packaging SACD compatibility in their mass products while software providers are targeting primarily the hifi segment. I have friends with SACD compatible DVD player and HTIB but they have no interest in 95% of the SACD titles out there..... ... more | |

From what's reported from CES 2006, Sony & Philips is renewing effort to push SACD to the masses via their HTIB products and DVD players. I wish I can say the same for their effort to push SACD software content. ... more | |

Well it's just so strange that renown recording label like Telarc, Pentatone, and MF took pains to engineer in surround while CE mfrs choose to go stereo. Many recording enginners believe that MC, done properly, is the way forward for the format. I don't think you need top end loudspeakers and amplifier to do proper MC playback. This is not a stereo vs MC issue. This is an issue about choices. I want to able to listen to both stereo and MC on my SACD player. Nowadays if you are a MC affectionado like me, there is lack of choices when it comes to high end MC SACD player. ... more |
