I would like to add that Janacek had in fact been infatuated with the viola d'amore. For him, the instrument was a symbol for his love to Kamilla Stoesslova. In the course of writing a review of these discs I contacted Christian Feldgen, the balance engineer of all the Wand's Bruckner recordings with the Berlin Philharmonic.
