English is not my native language. I have no musical background, I am just a very humble pianoplayer, my technical knowledge is just enough to explain my family and friends the difference between CD and SACD, but I am a musiclover from the deepest of my heart. I love a recording when I get the feeling that the players transform in the best possible way the message from the composerís heart to mine so that my emotions are moved, when the sound is realistic, when it makes me happy that this disc exists. And I go for period instruments, I love pianofortes...

This review is based on my love for Brautigamís Beethoven SACDís, for Brautigam live in Gent and for Mozartís pianoconcertos. I compared with the recordings by Bilson/Gardiner, Levin/Hogwood, Van Immerseel/Van Immerseel and Sofronitsky/Karolak. One always wonders if a new recording deserves a place ... more

I am extremely in love with the last piano sonatas since I first heard Paul Komen playing them on a 1830 Conrad Graf instrument. And although none of the recordings gives me complete satisfaction I am very happy to have in my collection the CD's from Badura-Skoda, Komen, Ney, Demus, Binns and ... more

One moment he gently caresses some limits of the instrument, a few bars futher, the whole instrument sings as if there are no limits. The main profits of this reading are the ... more

Hi, this SACD and the first recording of the 9th on CD are linked to liveconcerts in 1998 and 1999 (with some pianoconcerto's). I saw them all, they were rough diamonds and trilling exercises, (wishfull thinking : probably close to the expierences in Beethoven's days...). And this magic is on the 9th cd and on de SACD with 5th and 6th but the ... more
