There are many threads with info about players having problems to play the SACD layer in this forum. Krell is not the only brand that has this issue. Specially early versions of Sony SACD players are known to have problem with the SACD layer. I have my 7 year old Sony SCD555ES which basically is a striped down SCD 1. I'm not going to buy a new CD because I think when you come to a certain level on your setup the difference is very small. Upsampling or not. My point is that a modern CD player normally has a number of functions/features such as upsampling, oversampling, multiple DACs etc . etc to handle the issues that the RBCD comes with.
