Bryan Ferry: The Bride Stripped Bare      (1 of 1 found this review helpful)
  June 10, 2015

The Fifth solo release by Bryan Ferry marked the production style change. While its predecessor suffers from Bowie-like production this one sounds still afresh after all those years. The recrod has been made at the time of the Roxy Music interim between Siren and Manifesto albums. Ferry penned 4 ... more

The First Bryan Ferry solo release from Sept. 1973 - a collection of the fresh production of the pop classic such as It's My Party ..... none of the 13 tracks penned by Bryan Ferry himself. I have never got it on vinyl, which might be reason that I did not liked the album until now when it is ... more
Van der Graaf Generator: The Least We Can Do Is Wave to Each Other      (3 of 4 found this review helpful)

I am personally very happy that SACD version is now available. While Aerosol Grey Machine suffers from hiss and bad recording process the second Album from VDGG sounds very nice and includes two bonus tracks (necessity for completists). The dynamic range is pretty fair and none of the tracks drop ... more

Stellar album that has been surpassed only with its successor (Avalon) two years later. Our crooner is very competent especially with these two tracks: Eight Miles High ( cover version of The Byrds classic ) & No Strange Delight. The Album has been released in June 1980 and was accompannied by three ... more

Famous Nakano Sun-Plaza is well known for quality recordings of the concerts of the rock groups. This one is no exception. John WETTON + Eddie JOBSON + Terry BOZZIO deliver 7 tracks from their two previous studio albums plus the title song "Night after Night" and "As Long As You Want Me Here" never ... more

Just received a new batch of BD-A (Yes: Fragile/Gentle Giant: Octopus/XTC:Oranges &Lemons and King Crimson: THRAK superdeluxe 16 disc box) Fragile contains even the entire 5.1 mix from 2003 aside from flat transfers and new SW mixes - very good job indeed. Bonuses are not very impressive this time, but the album deserved corrections here and there ... more
Discussion: Mahler: Symphony No. 10 - Sieghart
November 2, 2015
I do not own this disc, but I own Das Lied Der Erde....by Sieghart - wonderful performance and my premiere for Stotijn/Litaker singers. I would not hesitate if it would not for Rattle/BPO Deryck Cooke version. Sieghart has Mahler on his sleeve and in his heart as well. ... more

Membran: "The Royal Philharmonic Collection": has anybody heard it on surround?

I have got only these three titles: [t=3078] [t=3079] [t=3256] the surround sound is fair but not very impressive in comparison with some DSD recordings. E.g. this one: [t=7451] I gave up collecting Membran releases since both symphonies by Shostakovich sounded terrible. I have got rid of them and tried to look for other labels where possible. ... more
