This is disc contains the most prosaic and pedestrian performance of the middle movement of the Ravel Concerto in G that I have ever heard. Bavouzet and Tortelier sound like they are in such a hurry they completely miss the point of the most beautiful, lyrical melody ... more |

Great performances, but TERRIBLE, compressed sonics... DO NOT BUY SECOND HAND... Not worth the money... It is bad on RBCD and TERRIBLE on SACD... |

Excellent performance by a brilliant Dutch wind ensemble of one of the great masterpieces of wind-band music. The audience finally makes its presence known by their applause at the end, and it is very well deserved. This is a phenomenal disc. BRAVO!!!

This is excellent! The Ives/Brandt is as craggy as the Concord Sonata in its piano version, but the orchestral color makes it less severe. The recording quality is first-class. For an excellent version of Concord on piano, check out Aimard or Hamelin on RBCD.
