Have nothing much more to add to Paulís review, this is a beautifully recorded disk and the music is probably well known even to those who donít listen to classical music on a daily basis. We have a surround setup, and IMO the back channels are a bit more discreet than they could be, but some people will find that appealing (weíre surround junkies anyway). Definitely one of the best sounding Telarc discs we have in our collection.

Performance is lively, vivid and engaging. This is my first encounter with any USA period orchestra and conductor Pearlman. Fast movements have all the necessary momentum and the slow ones are full of subtleties and grace. The range of instrumental and tonal colours is impressive, Pearlmanís bold approach in mixing different editions of this Handelís probably most famous score has paid off.

Je préfère l'interprétation de l'ensemble ZEFIRO dirigé par Alfredo Bernardini paru en CD chez Deutsche Harmonia Mundi (very good recording) qui est beaucoup plus entraînante et émouvante que cette version avec une très bonne restitution des timbres notamment de la trompette.La plage 11 Concerto a due cori No.3, "Allegro" est un délice (superb)!
Question de goût aussi peut être...
