I don't know what the Analogue Production team do to these now-elderly tapes, but it must come pretty close to witchcraft. I had told myself that if I already had the RCA Living Stereo SACD of any of these reissues, then I wouldn't be getting the new ones, but that idea was scotched by the spectacular quality of "The Reiner Sound'. This displays all the same virtues: legendarily great performances of course - the virtuosity and energy at the beginning of 'Pines' are jaw-dropping; spectacular spatial depth as well as width; warmly natural sound allied to astonishing levels of detail; plenty of space between players and great timbral accuracy. The turning-on of the Triton fountain is utterly spectacular. It always was a glorious recording but this remastering has taken it to a new level. Stunning.
