Thanks for the good news, Sylvian. To bad it won't be SA-CD, though I don't spit on other HD formats (would'nt have bought a universal player otherwise, he he)

Yes Anthony, I would welcome if it would be SA-CD as well, but as it seems SW+NW crew will likely stick with LPCM mastering all the way. DSD (discrete multichannel) is still VERY expensive toy to play with. Nevertheles I beleive that SW worked with original studio tapes and not only with production stereo masters. We all benefit from SW enthusiasm to do that work. And to be frank who needs watermarking when SA-CD rip is already exists from the day SONY released PSP III (CECHC 04 firmware) with capability to read SA-CDs?????

I have almost all of Steve Wilson's remasters and whether they're DVD~A 96/24, Blu Ray Video and Audio (his own projects) or even lossy DTS 96/24 they all share a common bond...........Exceptional fidelity and an uncanny ability to immerse the listener in a truly holographic soundfield.

Regarding his King Crimson 5.1 remasters: It is as though they were meant to be heard in 5.1 from the day they were originally recorded. KC's BEAT will be released in 5.1 later this year.

Again, does anyone know if he will tackle the complete YES catalogue or just selected titles?

I doubt that there will be another FRAGILE (despite mixed feelings about DVD-A/SA-CD releases) I really hope, that there will be 70s albums released + bonuses present on various compilations at least. The more the better.

Based on the frequency of King Crimson releases, it will be a LONG wait for these newly~minted YES titles to be released but just creating mch remasters of roughly 15 titles (except Fragile and Magnification which already have mch releases) is a true labor of love.

I'm confused. If this is SACD (DSD) why source it from PCM 24/96 masters? Fragile and Magnification available on DVDA. Others are appearing from analog masters on SACD from the USA (Audio Fidelity)

And using Korg AudioGate to convert to DSD? Why not Weiss or other software? AudioGate is a freeware tool: is it any good for pro use?

Yes 90125 is available on hdtracks at 24/44.1. Is any higher resolution available? (in other words was it recorded digitally at 44.1? If so, no better is possible unless remixed or remastered but what difference would it make?)

Would be nice to know before shelling out megabucks on what may be fundamentally flawed.

Totally agree.....and 90125 might have been recorded digitally as you have suggested - I will check that in my database.

More on this could be found here: http://www.gearslutz.com/board/high-end/25871-awesome-example-compression-yes-album-90125-a-2.html (incl. interesting referrences).

HDtracks makes everyone confused with this one, because the 90125 files they offer for download are actually 24/96, but because 44kHz recording or mastering was involved, they state 24/44 as the resolution.

This is guaranteed to (be):

(a) brick-walled
(b) clipped
(c) horribly compressed
(d) have no dynamic range
(e) be a "low-vibration-pass on" (pun on Awaken lyrics)
(f) suck
(g) remain horribly over-priced
(h) all of the above

Whatever answer works for you...bottom line - DON'T BOTHER unless you're someone who absolutely has to buy everything with the Yes brand on it.
