A positively GRIM forecast for an unreleased set (and I'm sure they will sell out rather expeditiously), but my money is on the upcoming Steve Wilson remasters in 5.1 from the original analogue master tapes.

Would be fantastic if they'd be released as a box set but don't hold your breath. Like the King Crimson 5.1 DVD~As, a VERY long wait, LOT'S of patience, but rather rewarding for those who ARE!

HDtracks makes everyone confused with this one, because the 90125 files they offer for download are actually 24/96, but because 44kHz recording or mastering was involved, they state 24/44 as the resolution.

You're correct about that one and it's dishonest of hdtracks imho. Furthermore, if you're going to upsample in the pcm domain, wouldn't it be better to do it on a direct multiple like 88.2 or 176.4?

I think the industry is either confused or doing this nonsense deliberately

I do not trust in high-resolution versions of HDtracks given its provenance, I think the sound is very similar to the CD. Just listen to the versions of Close to the Edge, The Yes Album and Going for The One, which would in any case the most reliable. On the other hand the CD remasters on SHM: Close to the Edge and Tales from Topographic Oceans are quite acceptable, but require additional configuration of the equipment, due to the amount of bass they handle. The Steve Hoffman SACD of "Close" is sensational, the best remastering I've heard so far and I go for Isao Kikuchi, which I bought in pre-order already. I was also obsessed with multichannel 5.1 but a good stereo version is quite enjoyable in my preamp Parasound, my amp Outlaw, my OPPO BDP-93 and my 2 PSBs Image 6T. By the way in October, will be released a DVD-audio and a BLU-RAY's Close to the Edge in 5.1 remastered by Steven Wilson that I order too in Burningshed, so do not lose faith.

Yesterday I have just stumbled across "Inside Yes" DVD released ten years ago. I had watched it all the way through. Some of the snippets of musical exertpts were done in DTS 5.1 and they sound amazing. So I wonder, what Mr. Wilson could do with these recordings. The info provided for BDA release of CTTE is really promising...

I have quite a few Steve Wilson 5.1 remixes and he never disappoints creating always an immersive holographic soundfield throughout.

YES in stereo............

NO!

I'm a huge YES fan but would never spend hundreds of dollars on a SACD box set until I know for sure of the Sound Quality. I rather get Steve Wilson 5.1 Blu ray version and hope he will do more of the back catalog of Yes.

SW will do the Classic Years... and will definitely sound better than the expensive set.

It depends what you are considering classic years: 1969-1978?? 1971-1980? or 1969-1989?? For me personally will do everything up to drama (incl. non-album tracks and some live material cause Odeaon "remaster" of the YESSONGS video sounds very thin). Also SW himself would like to shed a light on these: classic years. BTW, there were promised another KC releases from eighties and nineties as well. Pretty lot of work :-)

King Crimson - USA - 40th Anniversary Edition (cd/dvd) USA is presented in Hi-Resolution stereo only - not 5.1 Surround - as Robert Fripp decided that the live power of the quartet is best experienced in stereo sound.
