OK...I'm in. Mine have been ordered and should be here shortly. Thanks.

I will wait until next week after I put my hands on SW mix.

Yesterday I received this message from my supplier

"Hi,Many thanks for ordering the deluxe edition of Yes' Close To The Edge from Burning Shed. Unfortunately, we've been informed that due to manufacturing issues, this release has been delayed by two weeks. We will ship the album as soon as we have it in stock and will keep you informed of any more changes to the release date in the unlikely event that it's altered again. We apologise for any inconvenience this delay may have caused. Kind regards"

I hope there are no more delays, by the way, maybe in another post we could comment about Benefit by Jethro Tull and XTC's Nonsuch, both remixed by Steven Wilson, they coming soon too. I do not understand why SW not mixed Benefit in DVDA or BRD just in DD and DTS as he did it in Thick As A Brick, this is an enigma, but given the fine quality of his work is good to me by now...

CMD: I received the Box-Set very fast, I hope sincerely that when you receive yours, we can share the same opinion and that you will enjoy this collection as much as I do.

The only thing that is left to be said: How LIMITED is the volume of pressed HV boxes? Anyone?

There is no published data about it but I guess it's small. When box-set was released, cdjapan claimed to have 18 boxes. There are about 12 main shops that sell it at higher prices, and perhaps they have less stock than cdjapan, so it may be that the edition is of about 100-150 boxes at most at a first release. This is a very conservative estimate. Amazon UK now claim to have only one in stock plus 7 with affiliates.

300? If We estimate that manufacturing costs are around $100 for discs per set and printed inlays and booklet another 100 which in total represent 60,000 USD. WW Distribution (to retailers) would go to some 6000 USD so the profit before corporate tax could be 96,000 USD - I think this is totaly out of any estimation (if we consider highest E(nd)U(ser) price = 540 USD. There should be more of them....mind that WMJ is greedier than any other music industry company.

IF 1989 - 1991 luxury sets of prog bands saw 2500-5000 production volumes then HV box should see some 1000, IMHO.

My comment was still in process, but I do think that this first issue is small, almost for select collectors. I do not think that many boxes have been sold in such a short time, unless plus boxes come on the way, check Amazon UK now and another Amazon shops in Canada, France, Italy, Spain each one have 4 or 5 pieces. A new print will depend on how the market behaves itself. Nowadays many rock bands get more income from their concerts than from their records.

When we consider that LTiA box set by KC has been pressed in 7000 copies and the volume of the fanbase had been approx. 1/5 in comparison to yesworld ten years ago. Of course EU is a different territory and we cannot make such comparison but I doubt that there will be another batch of HV box, esp. after the release of SW mixes.

It depends largely on supply and demand, there are shops selling the HV box set at 700 USD, which is crazy. When it did not sell, shops seek lower prices or sold separately. The SHM SACD was originally sold to $59 per piece, now sold at $43, and out of print titles at any price. Moreover, HV is an expensive collection because it is made up of 16 cds and maybe not everyone wants to have the complete collection, but 2, 3 or 4 titles. By example I'm only interested in 2 or 3 KC titles, never buy the box-set.

complete opposite to me.....Fripp is a kind of spiritual guru to me......and I understand his point of view in many different areas. I still buy all of the possible releases from DGM - currently awaiting Road to Red opulent box set impatiently.....Journey to the Centre of Cosmos (from Providence, RI) is a marvel and exact example of the purest improv that Rock bands are no longer capable of. The same can be applied to Trio (from Concertgebouw, NL)....not an cup of tea for everyone of course. Still consider Fripp & Tippett, jr. amongst most valuable persons of the XXth century after Stravinsky, Bartok & Shostakovich.
