Rammiepie traffics in "double dipping!"

NOW I understand why you are so bummed out by the delays with Steppenwolf... Easy Riding Rammie. ;-)

But seriously, How are we going to do that when Downloads take over?? I am much more likely to take a chance on an SACD than a download when double-dipping. That's one of the beauties of a physical disc...RESALE!! I am NOT going to be very happy when I get stuck with some lame download that cost me $30!!!

This was certainly the last AFZ title I have bought ever...

Sad, but I know how you feel. CTTE was a bit of a letdown. And Blade Runner...while I am glad to have the SACD version, surely it has the potential to be so much more with a decent 5.1 mix.

True!

If you listen colsely to Steve Wilsons own output e.g. Drive Home form Raven...album very tentatively youll be surprised by tiny goodies in mch format. Such an astonishment I have witnessed on RM:Avalon - India, where surround mix is wonderful then came AON: daft which is also very good.

The bonus saving grace of AF's SACD of Blade Runner.......It does translate well when employing the DSP (surround) mode on my Meridian pre/pro.......VERY enveloping (but not true 5.1 surround).

CTTE (SACD) sounded almost flat in stereo and in another chronic case of "double dipping" I have the Steve Wilson BD~A 5.1 on order.

Agreed!! I often do the same with Bladerunner. And...even played in 2-channel, it has pretty good ambient sound. Vangelis did the best he could at the time. But the surround mode also shows me the potential this soundtrack has for Mch. Anyway, it's still a keeper.

Don't have those. Everyone sure raves about Avalon's Mch mix. One of these days I'll have to find a reasonably priced used copy (along with AON and Kraftwerk) and have the pleasure of experiencing them. I am not very familiar with Steven Wilson's music. I just heard Drive Home on YouTube. Nice!

complete opposite to me.....Fripp is a kind of spiritual guru to me......and I understand his point of view in many different areas. I still buy all of the possible releases from DGM - currently awaiting Road to Red opulent box set impatiently.....Journey to the Centre of Cosmos (from Providence, RI) is a marvel and exact example of the purest improv that Rock bands are no longer capable of. The same can be applied to Trio (from Concertgebouw, NL)....not an cup of tea for everyone of course. Still consider Fripp & Tippett, jr. amongst most valuable persons of the XXth century after Stravinsky, Bartok & Shostakovich.

My only spiritual guru in music has been JSBach, but I identified Lizard in Shostakovich by beauty, innovation and sharp sarcasm in concept, Bartok and Stravinsky are comparable to nobody, they are in another time and in another space. In fact I have the entire KC collection from ITCOTCK to Discipline, but I am specially interested in ITCOTCK, Lizard and Red, they are jewels of universal music, Fripp is an alien and his musicians are the perfect pieces of all unity, but Lizard is definitely my favourite. (By the way, sending main voice to center channel in 5.1 mix is not the best to me but in tastes they break genders). I put the example of KC because not everyone will want to spend on something do not like. The proof is that SW only mixed those albums, onwards the work is in charge of Jakko Jakszyk as in the case of ELP. KC for me is one of the summits of progressive rock in the most innovative way possible and fans should have this collection on DVD Audio necessarily, Are they in?. Yes, KC, JT, PFloyd and Genesis are part of the joy of my youth but the Beatles, Beethoven and Mozart are the joy of my whole life. Will anybody dare remix The Beatles in SACD? I only know that for the moment HV is beautiful!. Comparing HV with Steve Hoffman's CTTE and GFTO, I think mournfully SH produces laughter.

I will wait until next week after I put my hands on SW mix.

Well, I heard the remix version of SW CTTE Blu Ray and it is beautiful, but I think I prefer the HV is purer for me. I would like to hear your comments. IMHO the HV version is more powerful and brilliant because it is not only a remix but a remastering. SACD is superior by far to the BRD version definitely, to me of course. SW remix was what you expected? sincerely? In fact I prefer the Steve Hoffman version, it is more balanced in all aspects, what do you think?

My SW CTTE should arrive any day so I will compare to the SH.

However, I did snag the HV Tormato and Drama off ebay. I had the original CD release of Tormato to compare, and felt the original CD was better...less harsh, wider sound stage. Drama on the other hand, compared it to the the original CD release and the SHM-CD...the HV was by far the best on that one.

From my ears and from reading elsewhere, some HV are best, others not as much.

Yes overall I think the entire collection is excellent. There are better titles than others. Most are very good, they have their details but the recordings are carefully remastered. For example: Relayer is remarkable, I always found it some intricate and boring, but in the HV version I found new and interesting sounds.
