I must admit that Maag's Mendelssohn 3rd is one of my favorite desert island discs. I love Maag's version from 50+ years ago and there are many that have been brought out and have done a good job, but none that have held up to that recording, IMHO. That being said, the one with Rudner is pretty good and is probably the nearest competition for a modern recording. Still, would love to have the Maag remastered from the original tapes. I absolutely love that recording.
