I already posted these titles on THE ROCK THREAD but felt they deserved a thread of their own.

Warners Japan will release the following Titles on SACD on September 18th:

Curtis Mayfield: Back To The World, Curtis and Curtis Live

Tower of Power: Urban Renewal

Sister Sledge (featuring Nile Rodgers): We Are Family

Donny Hathaway: LIVE

Herbie Hancock: Fat Albert Rotunda

All SACDs will be limited Editions.

CD Japan is showing these as SHM-CD releases, not SACDs, scheduled for September 23rd release.

Brian, I did research these titles first at CDJapan and thought the same (they were SHM~CDs). Then they started appearing at CD Universe and AmazonUS as SACDs.

ImportCD also lists them as SACDs.

Visit AmazonUS and type in any of the titles putting SACD next to the title and you will see firsthand what I am referring to.

If this is an error then I will certainly correct it.

At $16.99 doubtful if its a SACD, I ordered a few but cancelled it. I'll wait for reviews first.

Or an error by CD Universe, Amazon US and ImportCD who are probably familiar with SHM-SACDs but not SHM-CDs.

We will see when they come out.

According to Warner Music Japan's own website these will be SHM-CDs. There are a handful of SACD releases on this page but all (four) classical, apparently.

That was MY initial reaction, as well, 7T. CDUniverse, ImportCDs and even Amazon have them listed as SACDs but it seems the sad reality is that they are indeed SHM~CDs......but are VERY reasonably priced @ CDJapan for a little over $10US and I'm sure represent an upgrade over the original RBCD pressings.

I confirm, they are just SHM-CDs, not SACD.
I ordered them thinking they were SACDs and today I received
Curtis Mayfield: Curtis, Live
Herbie Hancock: Fat Albert Rotunda
from ImportCD where they are erroneously listed as SACDs.
Also, they are listed as SACDs on every Amazon site.

I did not still compare them directly, but Curtis SHM-CD seems to sound better than MoFi RBCD edition.

I likewise splurged on 4 of the Warner titles knowing they were SHM~RBCDs and NOT SACDs. Deep Discount had them for the same price as ImportCDs, less 15%, so who could possibly resist?

They were just shipped out so I should be receiving them soon!
