Zeus has this listed as a DSD master. Do you have any reason to doubt that? With RCA being part of the Sony music empire, it is no surprise to me. The prior releases were all DSD as far as I remember.

So, does it sound like good PCM or bad DSD? There's a leading question........

Seriously though, I doubt these are DSD, but am happy to be proved wrong.

Good point, Peter. All experts in recognizing DSD vs PCM recordings please weigh in. When we find out which it is, we'll know which of you guessed, um, I mean, were able to recognize, what it actually is.

Does anyone know how this set was recorded? DSD or PCM? If PCM what PCM?

There is no information about this in the booklet or anywhere else I'm aware of.

It's recorded in PDM!

The words "DSD Recording" are to be found on the back cover (bottom left) above "SACD Multi 5.1 channel".

It seems, however, that as far as the Mahler cycle is concerned only Symphony No. 1 is expressly marked as a DSD recording.

Is this really a disappointment? http://www.classicstoday.com/review/review-13597/?search=1

It's an undernourished and polite performance.
I think 6th is Zinman's best in Maher.

All the symphonies in this Mahler cycle are recorded in 4.0 multi-channel not 5.1.
