Does anybody know anything about the future release of Black Sabbath's "Paranoid" listed at CD Universe under future SACD releases for Oct. 7? If it's real I'd love to hear in multichannel.

There is some info on the 3CD Deluxe set, but little on the (possible) SACD reissue

http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=156501

Some people think one disc from the set could be a multichannel SACD with the quad mixes, but this would make little sense, since they could put the CD layer, a stereo SACD layer and a multichannel SACD layer on a single hybrid SACD and avoid one extra disc. I could also be that the quad disc is a DVD.

For what its worth, Amazon also has a preorder for an 'SACD' of this on the same date. Its considered an import as the studio is listed as Sanctuary UK which I think was absorbed by Universal. There is a lot of talk in different forums about it including the steve hoffman one referenced by Claude. I wouldn't get my hopes up but it would be cool if an SACD release came out of this.

Well I never expected a post about this.

"Sabbath" were a local band and Paranoid was the first new album I ever bought. I still have my original copy and it sounds great.

Wind forward to the CD. Castle crucified it several times with original versions just wiping off the treble and even chopping off the start of Fairies.

I bought a Warner version from the US on my travels. To my amazement it sounds much better but life wasn't that simple. Someone decided mid way into War Pigs that the recording level was too low and wacked it up to what it should be. Aaargh!

The latter Castle reissues just sound electronic. Maybe I'm too fussy or its a CD thing.

This album would make my day though I have always been far too embarrassed to put it on a wish list.

I hope they will also put out normal (1 disc) Hybrid SACD version of the album, and after Paranoid we'll see "Heaven And Hell" on SACD :-))

Absolutely - I believe that's where it's originating from for the Amazon.com site.

It's listed on the UK site as £21.99 but has a 1970 release date, which means perhaps the release date hasn't been finalized yet by the issuing label or the .uk site is just behind the game.
