I presume this is a reference to the SACD being available again? It's a marvellous disc. I was playing it just the other day and was once again thrilled by the spaciousness and depth to the sound, as well as the wide dynamic range. The standard CD, which I also have. seems cramped by comparison and lacking in clarity and my LP of it now has unacceptably noisy surfaces, although the sound quality is still pretty good and definitely preferable to the CD.

My regret is that it was the only release from the so-called 'Virgin Years' that has come out on SACD. I would love to have heard "Phaedra", "Ricochet", "Force Majeure" and "Tangram" to mention just four from the same period released in the format. I suppose it's too late for those involved in releasing "Rubycon" on SACD to reconsider?

Edgar Froese make a new recording of Phaedra in 2005 and released it as a CD only with the title Phaedra 2005 in his own label.
Mr.Virgin-Richard Branson do not need money in this Global Crisis and do not want bother making a phone call ordering to releasing this TD classics titles in SACD format.
The TD fans that continue listen crap CD sound...

On the other hand, many of their instruments sounded crappy too. I like their music (and I'm a big fan of Klaus Schulze), but generally 1970's electronic music recordings are not the ones that need hi-rez formats most.

What I do not understand is why Edgar Froese do not release Phaedra 2005 in SACD by your own label... There is a new bonus track in this disc.
Better yet, Do why TD do not make new recordings of all the old stuff albums that were all veeeery poorly recorded by Virgin Records ?

They HAVE re-recorded Tangram and Hyperborea as well. It seems to be a continuing habit, as odd tracks off old albums get re-recorded and released too (Cloudburst Flight, Scrapeyard, Love on a real train, Loved by the sun etc.) My guess is that Force Majeure is going to be next of the re-release series.

As much as I would like to see the release of other SACD albums by TD, I wouldn't hold my breath until it happens since that involves a great deal of money and I don't think the investment would return (however sad this is). They however still release vinyl albums!!

These are real good news !! Looks they will remake all the old stuff, I must spare some money to buy a possible SACD in the future, I Sorry TD only release Low-Rez CD until now, the fans are waiting some SACDs, and TD have fans all over the world. Thankyou for the info Epsilon.

P.S.: I wonder how much cust to order a run of a SACD title in the factory ? Anyone have this information?
P.P.S.: Sorry Mr.Froese, but I will no Buy any regular CD of TD or any other band or classical composer. CD no more.

I just wish I could have "got into" Rubycon, but it didn't do anything for me. Purely down to personal music tastes, but I absolutely loved Ricochet, Force Majeure, Tangram and quite a few others. I remember buying the LPs from about 1976 onwards as they arrived in the shops, and catching up also with the buying of the older titles. I generally bought them in the Virgin record shop in central Croydon (London UK). Brings back quite a few pleasant memories.

I would really love to see some more TD titles released in a hi-res format, preferably with a MCH option. I'd be perfectly happy with a stereo-only disc if it came to it, but to be able to do the comparison would be great. That's one of the great things with this format, in that it should be able to please all.

Interesting to read your comments on the CD and your LP. I remember that the Virgin label was one of the worst for poor quality LP pressings, and this unfortunately affected my LP of Ricochet, and my enjoyment of it. I was so glad to get a CD of it in late 1987, and it's far preferable to the LP version I used to own. It's good though to hear that you're happy with your Rubycon LP - that's all that matters. I sometimes (luckily not very often!) wish I could do a comparison LP - CD - SACD/DVD-A.
