does anybody know which Blu-ray machines can do 5.0/1 SACD playback?

The Oppo players and several newly announced Sony players. Also there are expensive universal players by Denon and Marantz. And the Cambridge 650.

Hi,

Marantz UD8004 is a newcomer.

http://www.marantz.com/new/index.cfm?fuseaction=Products.Product&cont=eu&bus=hf&prod_id=3840&series=comp&type=dvd

AFAIK, SACD over HDMI as PCM only.

5.1/7.1. analog signals out!!!!

Vast majority of BluRay players don't play SACD at all. Only the most expensive ones do.

br,

Esa

The Oppo 80 and the Sonys are not that expensive (about $300)

Oh boy,

new Sonys really support SACD ... again after almost ten years!!!

This is quite amazing since a year ago you could only buy an new
multichannel SACD player with +3000 euros from Denon or Marantz.

FullRangeMan,

I do not understand your hate against BLu-ray. Why do you relish in the thought the Blu-ray will sink in your country? It is just a way of offering high rez video and high rez music. If you do not want it, don´t buy it. Did Blu-ray hurt you?

Many here in Germany thought similar during the last 2 years, while BD prices were much higher than DVDs. Now the difference has gradually shrunk and there is an established base of players in the homes. The same will probably happen in Brazil. Blu-ray will establish itself as a kind of first class video format. If it will also succeed for music without video, is doubtful, probably only in a very small niche, but interesting for audiophiles as us as a supplement for SACD.

Back to topic: I am fascinated by the Haydn Blu-ray project (which would have been difficult to make as SACDs I think from the description) and ordered it. When I spent some time with it, I will report.

Sorry Folks, I can not hide I hate BluRay and I do not want lie to you with nice words about BD. I only care about music, video is a very secondary thing in my hobby list.
I categorically do not accept what Sony did with the SACD format!

Time marches on. Blu-ray is here to stay, if you like it or not. Yes, that will be true in Brazil in time. Do you like opera? If so, Blu-ray opera will knock your socks off visually as well as sonically. Music-only Blu-ray may never take off out of the tiny niche it's in, but it's quite satisfactory to me sonically. My listening impressions, supported by friends who agree, are that it might even be better sonically than SACD.

Yes I like Opera, but only in audio/music. I do not like see images/scenes, this disturb my apreciation of the music.
To you have a idea of my oldfashioned tastes in video, my TV is a Stereo Surround one, but I like to watch TV in Mono sound, video/TV is not important to me.

No no no, this ''FullRangeMan'' name is a quote/referece to the full range, xoverless, paper cone speakers like Lowther, Visaton, MarkAudio, Nirvana etc
See images in a screen is a open door to shape the brain, a dangerous thing...

I do not understand the hate. Indifference, yes. But hate? What has this poor format done to you?
