For people in NYC, J&R is having a sale this week on Harmonia Mundi distributed discs (so Channel, LSO, Mariinsky, Hyperion, etc). 20% off - which makes a real difference since Channel discs tend to go for a bit more. I got the new Stravinsky release for $16 and a few Mariinsky SACDs for $12.

I have never felt a need to backup physical disks, be them CD, SACD, DVD, BR whatever....

Yeah, until something like a fire comes along and ruins your whole collection, which is what happened to me 6 years ago. I didn't lose all of my CDs--only about 300 out of 5000 or so--but nevertheless many of them were long out of print and therefore hard to replace.

Shouldn't we all be talking about SACDs rather than hi-rez music downloads in this forum? (A genuine question to which I do not know the answer, by the way.)

I am yet to meet a real audiophile music lover (as distinct from a techy audiophile who has little interest in music per se) who prefers downloads to physical discs. Everyone I ask always says he (vast majority are men) prefers physical RBCDs and SACDs for their tactile, visual and intellectual features (packaging, artwork, essays and other documentation) and their ease of locating and playing.

Anyone else excited about Rachel Podger's new disc with The Holland Baroque Society?

I'm really enjoying being immersed in Baroque music currently and I've just played this:

Vivaldi: Sacred works for soprano and concertos - Florilegium

Arnaldo's right - it's one to make sure you hear.

Can't get enough of these great Channel Baroque SACDs!

Hope to have the new release of Rachel Podger and the Holland Baroque Society playing Vivaldi 'La Cetra' available by April 15.
My problem is that if I am off recording (like I have been the last week in Budapest) I can't finish up with the other projects. But am now home. The new release of Rick Stotijn playing works on double bass bij Bottecini is going to the factory today. (it is incredible what this guy can do on the bass!).

greetings

Thank you Jared, very much looking forward to this disc and I may have to investigate the double bass album too.

Isn't BPO the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra?

Confusing all the shortened names.

The BFO - Budapest Festival Orchestra has just recorded Bruckner 7th after having a week tour through Europe.
Last month we recorded Brahms 2nd Symphony with the Academic and Tragic overtures.
This coming September we will record Mahler 5th at the end of the Mahler Festival that takes place in September every year in Budapest.

This September we will be releasing the Mahler 1st recording I did last September.
I am all confused!

We also have a Wagner recording to release. PLEASE tell me the order you would like to have these recordings come out as I can't keep up!

Greetings
