Huh??? Seems to have two extreme views on queen shm-sacds. Actually I was eyeing night of the opera but was put off by comments that it is below par.

Now I am not sure.

Junchoon, strongly recommend "A night at the Opera". You won't regret. I threw away the RBCD already.
Different people have their own comment. This is a must for Queen's fan although it is a bit expensive. Maybe you can wait for promotion from HMV JP. Last month, "Love over gold" was just Yen3300.

Cheers.

Queen Greatest Hit I & II on SHM-SACD will be available on 29 Aug. They're a must for Queen fans.

I can't find any info on this SHM-SACD release but I have the Queen greatest hits UICY-15001 SHM-CD and find the sound quality mindblowingly good. It's so good that I'll buy the SHM-SACD as soon as it's available. This is one great recording.

Not known, "believed." Believed as in extraterrestrial encounters, visitors from the Great Beyond, the Evil Eye, speaking raccoons, the Invisible Hand of the free market, magnetic bracelets, upgraded power cords, and a host of other audiophile tweaks and trinkets.

See even /showthread.php?page=1 on these very pages.

Soundboy, I'm curious what the first digital rock recording was?

Since this thread is about "Queen" my response is in the Brothers In Arms thread /showthread/6277//y?page=3

Zoolook is one of the first Compact Discs labeled as DDD: Digitally recorded, mixed and mastered.

possibly Zoolook by Jean Michel Jarre ??

Most certainly! It takes some time before the pits and bits on a SHM-SACD settle down in the ideal fashion and formation. Both spinning and applying a laser speeds up the process, but using a slowly spinning microwave plate and full power microwaves for about on hour helps to bring out the best in the format.
