Performance:   Sonics:
Since producer Don DeVito re-mixed this one in 1998, this often-overlooked LP has really come into its own. Not nearly as epic as "Blood On The Tracks" or the multi-platinum follow-up "Desire", "Street Legal" has an easy, down-to-earth charm. Some purists may object to the female background singers on most of the tracks as being too 'Vegas-like', but with hindsight, the songs are all quite good. Standout tracks include "Señor (Tales of Yankee Power)" and the opener "Changing of the Guards".

Sonically, the stereo remix is much, much better than the original vinyl--everything is cleaned up without sounding sterile, and now that you can hear the backing band, it really adds a lot. Not a major Dylan release, by any means, but it has dated rather well.
